In the game Zul'Gurub Hakkar, The Soulflayer, there is a boss that casts a spell called Corrupted Blood. This attack does lasting damage to the infected character as well as those close to him. Players found that instead of taking damage, they could summon their pets to take damage for them. However, the virus was not programmed so that it could be canceled, so each time the animal was summoned again, all characters and animals nearby were also infected. As the virus's aggressiveness increased even more when it infected lower-level characters and animals, many were wiped out and several villages in the game were abandoned. The pandemic only ended when Blizzard released an update for the game, which cured the virus and prevented the animals from becoming infected.
